What To Do With Your Sleeve After Your Trip

 REUSE IT

  • Slide it onto your next bottle; wine, spirits, olive oil, even a fancy water bottle.
  •  Wrap fragile souvenirs  to protect them while travelling.

REPURPOSE IT (Get creative!)

  • Cut it into coasters or bookmarks.
  • Cut the sleeve open lengthways and lay it flat to use as a surface protector for hot dishes (min. two sleeves on top of one another).
  • Cut open four sleeves lengthways to create placemats.
  • Cut it up and use as a filler for posting pre-loved fragile items.
  • Use it in an arts and crafts project.
  • Get creative and send us a picture of your creation and we will add it to our “Travellers of the  Suberverse” global gallery of Suber Sleeve-Saving legends.

RECYCLE IT (Responsibly)

  1. Collect it along with other natural cork wine stoppers.
  2. Contact us for more information on where to send the Suber Sleeve through our Take Back Program.

COMPOST IT

  • Cut it into smaller pieces  and use it as a mulch for your plants.
  • Add it to your compost heap or dispose of it in the organic (BIO) waste bin.

Benefits of using the Suber Sleeve

By choosing the Suber Sleeve, you’re not just protecting your bottle, you’re helping to protect the world you love to explore.

  • 100% eco-friendly.
  • Made from regenerative Portuguese cork (yes, from Quercus suber!).
  • Cork oaks are protected in Portugal and never cut down. The  outer bark is carefully stripped every 9–12 years.
  • Actively choosing a natural, renewable material over plastic and synthetic foam.
  • Supporting a female-founded-and-managed company.
  • Preserving  the cork forests, which provide critical habitats for endangered species, support rural livelihoods and traditional land stewardship practices.
  • CO₂ impact? For every 500,000 Suber Sleeves, nearly *40 tons of CO₂ are removed from the atmosphere. That's like driving a typical petrol car for ** 362,782 km or ***160 one way flights between Lisbon and London!

Travel better. Live greener. Cheers to that!

*Using peer-reviewed / measured ecosystem fluxes and modest cork yields, the cork contained in 500,000 Suber Sleeves (7.0 t cork) corresponds to approximately: ~25 → 59 t CO₂ removed in one year, with a representative estimate ≈ 38.6 t CO₂ (using the mid yield). Calculations based on Pereira et al. (NEE) and Pasalodos-Tato et al. (yield)

***Equates to roughly 160 one-way flights Lisbon–London using BEIS factors, or ~80 flights when applying higher real-world emissions values from the myclimate and Atmosfair calculators, which include flight-specific conditions and full lifecycle factors.
